Keep Water Moving in the Right Direction
Standing water shouldn't be part of your landscape.
If water collects in your yard after heavy rain, your lawn stays soggy for long periods, or certain areas of your property frequently flood, you may have a drainage problem.
Grow Roots provides professional French drain and yard drainage solutions designed to collect and redirect excess water away from problem areas, helping create a healthier, more functional landscape.

Does Your Yard Have a Drainage Problem?
Water naturally looks for the lowest areas of your property. When your yard doesn't drain properly, rainwater can collect in low spots instead of moving away efficiently.
Signs of Poor Drainage
|
What You May Notice |
|---|---|
| 💧 Standing Water | Water remains in your yard after rainfall. |
| 🌧️ Frequent Flooding | Certain areas flood during or after heavy rain. |
| 🟫 Soggy or Muddy Lawn | Parts of your lawn stay wet or muddy for long periods. |
| 🏠 Water Near the Home | Water collects near your home, patios, or walkways. |
| 🌱 Struggling Grass | Grass becomes weak or dies in consistently wet areas. |
| 🌊 Soil Erosion | Soil or mulch washes away with flowing water. |
| ⏱️ Slow Drainage | Areas stay wet long after the rest of the yard has dried. |
If you're experiencing these problems, improving the drainage of your property may help manage excess water and protect your landscape.

What Is a French Drain?
A French drain is an underground drainage system designed to collect excess water from the surrounding soil and redirect it toward an appropriate discharge location.
A typical French drain consists of a trench containing:
Permeable filter fabric
Helps separate the surrounding soil from the drainage aggregate while allowing water to pass through.
Drainage gravel or rock
Creates space for water to move through the drainage system.
Perforated drainage pipe
Collects water entering the trench and carries it away from the problem area.
Proper slope
Allows the system to move water toward the intended outlet.
Once installed, the system works below the surface to help manage excess groundwater and standing water.

How Does a French Drain Work?
1. Water Collects
Rainwater and excess moisture move toward the drainage area.
2. Water Enters the Drain
Water passes through the permeable fabric and drainage rock surrounding the perforated pipe.
3. The Pipe Collects the Water
The perforations allow excess water to enter the drainage pipe.
4. Water Is Redirected
The pipe carries the collected water away from the problem area toward an appropriate discharge location.
The result is a drainage system working underground to help keep problem areas of your yard from remaining saturated.

Our Drainage Installation Process
1. Property Evaluation
We begin by evaluating the areas where water is collecting and looking at how water naturally moves across the property.
We consider factors such as low areas, grading, soil conditions, downspouts, irrigation, landscape features, and possible drainage routes.
2. Drainage Solution
Based on the conditions of your property, we determine an appropriate drainage approach and where excess water can be redirected.
3. Trench Preparation
The drainage route is excavated with the proper depth and slope required for the system.
4. French Drain Installation
Permeable filter fabric, drainage aggregate, and perforated drainage pipe are installed to create the drainage system.
5. Water Diversion
The system is connected to an appropriate outlet or discharge location based on the property's conditions and applicable requirements.
6. Final Restoration
Once the drainage system is installed, the area is restored as appropriate for the landscape.

Why Proper French Drain Installation Matters
A French drain is more than a pipe buried underground.
The location, slope, depth, drainage material, filter fabric, pipe selection, and discharge point all influence how effectively the system manages water.
A poorly designed system may fail to collect enough water, become contaminated with sediment over time, or simply move the drainage problem somewhere else.
At Grow Roots, we evaluate the property first so the drainage solution is designed around the actual water problem—not simply where water happens to be visible.
